Danish car prices are distorted by the high Danish registration tax (registreringsafgift) — on export part of it **can be reclaimed** (eksportgodtgørelse), and this is often part of the bargaining. Clarify with the seller whether it is included in the price. Hungarian registration tax and transfer duty must still be paid, though — and that has nothing to do with the Danish registration tax. The cycle of the Danish syn (technical inspection) differs from the Hungarian one, so a vehicle often appears to be “without inspection” on paper — in that case an individual approval procedure and an official technical inspection are required in Hungary. ## How much does it cost to register a car from Denmark? For an average 90 kW, five-year-old passenger car the **basic official cost** **150,000 – 210,000 Ft** , depending on whether there is a valid foreign inspection. These are basic official fees.
