The document is the **Rekisteröintitodistus** , in parts I and II. With a Finnish car two things are worth checking separately: **underbody corrosion** from winter salting, and what the vehicle’s equipment (studded winter tyres, engine block heater) means for Hungarian use. Registration tax and transfer duty are still payable, though. The Finnish katsastus report is detailed: it contains the measured braking force, the odometer reading and the fault list. Before buying, it is the best technical source on the vehicle. ## How much does it cost to register a car from Finland? For an average 90 kW, five-year-old passenger car the **basic official cost** **150,000 – 210,000 Ft** , depending on whether there is a valid foreign inspection. These are basic official fees. Corrosion can be grounds for failing the Hungarian inspection. **What about studded winter tyres?** Studded tyres may not be used on Hungarian roads, so they must be changed before the inspection. This is not an obstacle to registration, just something to budget for. **Is the Finnish katsastus enough?** If it is valid and you have the inspection report, the registration procedure is enough.
