Two things together determine it: the vehicle data set the tax base, and the time since first registration reduces it — down to a tenth. Calculate it for my vehicle [+36 70 755 5705](tel:+36707555705) The official formula ## Three steps, not an estimate 1. **Tax base** — for a passenger car by power output (kW) and emission class, for a motorcycle by power output. For a fully electric vehicle, 0 Ft. 2. **Months elapsed** — (year of registration − year of first registration) × 12 + (month of registration − month of first registration) + 1. Days do not count, but the starting month does. 3. **Multiplier** — by the months elapsed, from 1.00 down to 0.10. The tax payable is the base times the multiplier, without rounding. **A check example from the official table:** 0–10 kW motorcycle, 18 months → 47,000 × 0.77 = **36.190 Ft** . ## Step 1 — tax base for motorcycles | Power output | Tax base | | --- | --- | | 0–10 kW | 47.000 Ft | | 11–40 kW | 94.000 Ft | | 41–70 kW | 188.000 Ft | | 70 kW felett | 235.000 Ft | | Electrically powered | 0 Ft | This is the **tax base** , not the tax payable. The most common misconception It is not true that registration tax on a motorcycle depends solely on power. Half the official formula is the age: on a 16-year-old bike the tax payable is 4,700 Ft instead of 47,000 Ft — a tenfold difference. These are basic official fees. On top come our service fee and, for a priority case, its fee. ## When is there no registration tax? - **Fully electric vehicle (5E / 5Z)** — the tax base is 0 Ft and it is exempt from the transfer duty too. - **Electric motorcycle** — under the official table the tax base is 0 Ft. - **Classic (OT) vehicle** — with museum classification there is no registration tax. On many cars over 30 years old this saves a lot. - **Categories exempt from registration tax** — no registration tax is payable on trucks, buses or trailers.
