Registering and licensing a car from the Czech Republic
Full Hungarian administration for a vehicle imported from the Czech Republic. We tell you what it costs, which papers you need and how long it takes.
What to watch out for when importing a Czech car
The Czech Republic is an EU member; there is no customs procedure. Like the Slovak one, the registration certificate has two parts: the Osvědčení o registraci vozidla část I is in the car, the část II — the velký technický průkaz — with the owner. Registration needs both. The Hungarian registry office knows the Czech document system well, which makes the process routine.

No. The Czech Republic is an EU member, so there is no customs procedure. Registration tax and transfer duty are still payable, though.
The validity of the Czech STK (technical inspection) is shown on the Osvědčení o registraci vozidla část I. With a valid STK, registration administration is enough; if the inspection has lapsed, an individual approval procedure and an official technical inspection are required.
