What to watch out for when importing a Slovenian car
Slovenia is an EU member; there is no customs procedure. The document is the prometno dovoljenje (registration certificate), well known to Hungarian registry offices — thanks to the proximity and the well-worn workflow, Slovenian cases are usually fast. The technical inspection is the tehnični pregled; with a valid inspection the cheaper branch of registration applies.

Is customs duty payable?
No. Slovenia is an EU member, so there is no customs procedure. Registration tax and transfer duty are still payable, though.
The validity of the Slovenian tehnični pregled is shown on the prometno dovoljenje. With a valid inspection, registration administration is enough; if it has lapsed, an individual approval procedure and an official technical inspection are required.
How much does it cost to register a car from Slovenia?
For an average 90 kW, five-year-old passenger car the basic official cost 150,000 – 210,000 Ft , depending on whether there is a valid foreign inspection.
