Registering motorhomes, caravans and trailers
Registering imported motorhomes, towable caravans and trailers with full-service administration.
The service fee differs by vehicle type
A trailer is a light, unpowered towed unit — so we handle it for the same fee as a motorcycle. A towed caravan and a self-propelled motorhome each have a different official procedure.
What to watch out for
A caravan or trailer over 750 kg gross weight needs its own registration certificate and plate.
For a trailer — including caravans — a lost plate cannot be remanufactured; a new plate and a new registration certificate must be applied for.
A motorhome is not a trailer but a self-propelled vehicle — because of its body, the registration rules for passenger or goods vehicles apply to it.
Frequently asked questions
Does a caravan get its own plate?
Above 750 kg gross weight, yes, together with its own registration certificate. Below that, the towing vehicle’s papers suffice.
Is registering a motorhome the same as a truck?
Similar but not identical — because of the motorhome’s body (built-in equipment) an individual assessment may be needed. Send us the documents and we will quote precisely.
Bringing home a motorhome, caravan or trailer?
Send us the vehicle documents and we will give a fixed quote within 24 hours.
