What to watch out for when importing a Slovak car
Slovakia is an EU member, so there is no customs procedure. Slovak documents are well known to the Hungarian authority, which usually makes the process faster than with other countries. The Osvedčenie o evidencii (registration certificate) has two parts — registration needs both.
Which documents are needed for a car imported from Slovakia?

Is customs duty payable?
No. Slovakia is an EU member, so there is no customs procedure. Registration tax and transfer duty are still payable, though.
The validity of the Slovak STK (roadworthiness test) appears on the Osvedčenie o evidencii časť I — ask for that first, before you buy.
How much does it cost to register a car from Slovakia?
For an average 90 kW, five-year-old passenger car the basic official cost 150,000 – 210,000 Ft , depending on whether there is a valid foreign inspection.

Why is registering a Slovak car faster?
Because the Hungarian authority knows the document system well, and the countries’ proximity makes the process routine.
Is part I of the Osvedčenie o evidencii enough?
No, both parts are needed: I is the registration certificate, II the vehicle title.
Is an STK certificate needed?
Yes — if it is valid, the registration procedure (11,100 Ft) is enough. If it is missing or expired, an individual approval is needed.
