What to watch out for when importing a Spanish car
Spain is an EU member; there is no customs procedure. The Permiso de circulación is the registration certificate, the Ficha técnica (ITV) the vehicle’s full technical data sheet — the latter matters for Hungarian registration too, because the power (kW) and environmental class can be read from it.
Which documents are needed for a car imported from Spain?

Is customs duty payable?
No. Spain is an EU member, so there is no customs procedure. Registration tax and transfer duty are still payable, though.
The format of the Ficha técnica varies slightly by region (autonomous community) — if you cannot find the kW figure, call us and we will find it together.
How much does it cost to register a car from Spain?
For an average 90 kW, five-year-old passenger car the basic official cost 150,000 – 210,000 Ft , depending on whether there is a valid foreign inspection.

Is an ITV certificate needed?
Yes — if it is valid and provable, the registration procedure is enough. If not, an individual approval is needed.

Is a CoC needed for a Spanish car?
In most cases no, if the Ficha técnica contains the necessary data. For electric and hybrid vehicles, yes.
