Why is this category an individual procedure?
Because type approval often does not apply to these vehicles: trailers and machinery are frequently bespoke, modified or fitted with a body. In that case an individual approval for registration must be applied for, and the authority expects dimensional, braking and lighting documentation for it. An inspection slot will not speed this up — assembling the documentation is the work.
Which vehicles does it apply to?
Tachograph, speed limiter, brake test. International haulage requires separate permits.
It gets its own registration certificate. One plate, 7,425 Ft. A lost plate cannot be remanufactured.

What documentation is needed?
- original foreign registration certificate and vehicle title
- manufacturer data sheet or type certificate
- dimensions, gross weight and axle loads
- technical description of the braking system and lighting
- in case of modification, the installer’s declaration
- bilingual sales contract or a foreign invoice
- as a company, a company extract no older than 30 days and a specimen signature
If something is missing we obtain it from the manufacturer or the foreign authority — that takes the most time, which is why we check up front.
The plate rule that matters for trailers
If the plate of the trailer or motorcycle lost, remanufacture cannot be requested — a new plate must be ordered, which means a new official marking and therefore a new registration certificate.
Frequently asked questions
How long does an individual approval take?
With complete manufacturer documentation, a few weeks. If dimensioning or brake calculations have to be supplied, it can take longer. In the quote we state the real lead time, not the best case.
Why is the service fee 79,990 Ft?
Because most of the work is assembling documentation and liaising with the authorities, not booking slots.
Does a trailer get its own registration certificate?
Yes — above 750 kg gross weight it gets its own registration certificate and plate. Below that, the towing vehicle’s papers suffice.
Do you handle modified vehicles too?
Yes, but the modification must be documented and approved. Without the installer’s declaration the authority will not accept it, so it is worth obtaining before you buy.
Is a vehicle identity check needed?
Yes — it is mandatory in this category too for the first Hungarian registration of an imported vehicle. The certificate is valid for 60 days.
